After spending over a decade helping people find their dream homes abroad, TV presenter Laura Hamilton has shared the three places that hold a special place in her heart. Having travelled across continents for Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun, Hamilton reflected on her favourite filming memories and destinations that continue to inspire her in an interview quoted by The Mirror and Woman Magazine.
1. South Africa: A Trip That Felt Like Home

At the top of her list is South Africa, a country that carries both beauty and emotional meaning for her.
Laura said,
“I loved filming in South Africa. My dad was born there. It was great to get to see that.”
From the bustling streets of Cape Town to the vast landscapes of Kruger National Park, South Africa is known for its wildlife, cultural richness, and stunning coastlines. With 12 official languages and endless outdoor adventures, from spotting elephants to shark diving, it’s easy to see why it left such a mark on her. For Laura, it was more than just work; it was a connection to her roots.
2. Morzine, France: The Mountain Escape

Her second favourite destination is Morzine, a peaceful village in the French Alps.
Hamilton mentioned,
“I also loved filming in Morzine. I’m a big skier, and it was great to see it in the summer months.”
Tucked between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, Morzine transforms through the seasons. In winter, it’s a snowy playground for skiers and snowboarders. In summer, it becomes a green valley full of trails, cosy cafés, and alpine charm. The village’s history dates back hundreds of years, once famous for slate mining. Today, it blends heritage with outdoor fun, the kind of place where you slow down and breathe.
3. Granada, Spain: The Best of Both Worlds

Her final choice is Granada, a Spanish city where beach mornings and mountain evenings go hand in hand.
Laura shared,
“Granada, Sierra Nevada, was amazing. Being on the beach in the morning and the slopes in the afternoon, that’s amazing.”
Located in southern Spain, Granada is home to the breathtaking Alhambra Palace and the snow-dusted Sierra Nevada mountains, which are Europe’s southernmost ski resort. For Laura, it captured everything she loves about travel, like history, adventure, and the joy of discovering something new each day.
