Alec Baldwin & Stephen Baldwin’s Hamptons Car Crash

Alec Baldwin and his brother Stephen hit a tree in East Hampton, New York, on October 13, 2025. Alec was driving along Montauk Highway with his brother as a passenger when a huge garbage truck, “the biggest he's ever seen,” said Alec, unexpectedly cut him off on the road. Alec swiftly changed the direction of the car to avoid a collision with the truck, ultimately crashing into a tree.


Fortunately, both brothers escaped the accident without fatal injuries.


What Exactly Happened


Alec Baldwin was in town for the Hamptons International Film Festival as a co-chair. His brother, Stephen Baldwin, came for a visit. The incident happened on the closing day of the festival. 


The accident happened when Alec swerved to avoid a collision with a gigantic garbage can when he was unexpectedly cut off the road. The 67-year-old actor was driving his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s white Range Rover. The car was reportedly “smashed” at the front, being undrivable after the accident.


Luckily, both escaped the vehicle safely without any major injuries. “Everything is fine, I'm fine, and my brother is fine”, confirmed Alec on an Instagram video.


Emergency Response on the Scene


The East Hampton police department responded to Alec Baldwin's accident promptly. The whole response was quick and supportive as described by Alec, “as nice as can be and pleasant about the whole thing.”

 

The brothers were seen speaking to the police after exiting safely from the vehicle. The officers helped them out by providing them shelter from the pouring rain at the site. Alec Baldwin showed gratitude towards the police department on Instagram. Alec also specially thanked Officer Gerken for “coming to aid”.



Stephen Baldwin’s Condition & Statement


Stephen Baldwin's condition after the unfortunate event is confirmed to be safe and unharmed. His publicist, James Moore, stated to USA Today,


“Stephen is doing well and is thankful that no one was hurt. He appreciates the concern and can confirm that both he and Alec are safe and sound.”

He actor himself took to Instagram to inform his fans about the incident.


Alec’s Public Explanation


In his Instagram video, Alec described the truck as “ the size of a whale", the reason he had to unexpectedly take a turn.



The Oscar-nominated actor showed regret about his wife's car being smashed up. Stating, “I feel terrible about that.” He then briefly spoke about his plans to visit LA to see family and spend time with them. He ended it by praising his wife, Hilaria, saying,
