$10 million sounds like a ridiculous price for Reddit today.
The platform now has more than 120 million daily active users and generated $2.2 billion in revenue in 2025. At one point in 2025, Reddit's market value was approaching $40 billion.
But there is something easy to miss when looking at the story today.
Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman weren't selling a $40 billion company in 2006. They were selling a very young startup that had existed for roughly 16 months.
